About VEEP
The modernisation of rural communities and villages is a feature of this programme as a way to stem rural – urban migration. In most cases projects are based on setting up companies using local manpower and exploiting local resources for the benefit of the community. This will help to get more people to participate in wealth creation and sharing. All VEEP projects include social, welfare and health programmes for people and schools in the local communities. Women empowerment is a priority aspect of this programme.
In Nigeria, Africa 2000 presently partners with NAPEP under their Village Economic Development Solutions (VEDS). The organisation is also seeking to partner with organisations genuinely committed to empowering rural communities.

Current VEEP Projects
Akinale Economic Empowerment Project (AEDP)
A project financed with a loan from Nigeria’s Poverty Eradication Programme (NAPEP) to reactivate an abandoned farm complex. Infrastructures on the 15 hectare farm are being rehabilitlitated for poultry, fisheries, piggery and cassava production.
Feasibility studies have been carried out in many other communities in Nigeria including Magbon Alade, a fishing community in Lagos State, Idanre in Southern Nigeria. and Ekinrinade in Northern Nigeria.

initiatives and executing projects aimed at eradicating poverty in Africa. Africa 2000 carries out its activities in form of projects. As would be expected, most of these poverty alleviation projects are in Africa. However, Africa 2000 also looks at poverty issues amongst Africans in the UK.
